We published a general guide to AI recommendations for local businesses. This one is specific to India: which sources Indian customers’ questions tend to surface, and how Indian businesses can make themselves easy to recommend.
Questions to AI assistants often mix English, Hindi and locality names: “best dermatologist in Andheri West”, “CA for GST filing in Lajpat Nagar”, “affordable coaching for NEET in Kota”. Many include a price expectation or a landmark. Your profile and website should contain the same kind of language: localities, landmarks, services and price ranges, written naturally.
Keep every one of these consistent with your Google profile. Indian businesses often have three or four phone numbers across listings, which creates confusion for people and machines alike.
Indian customers often write short reviews. Encourage a little more detail: the service used, the area, the staff member. Reviews in Hindi or regional languages are fine; they are genuine and show you serve local customers. Never use review exchange groups, which are common and risky.
Ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google (with AI Overviews or AI Mode where available) the questions your customers ask, in the words they use. Note who appears. Then compare those businesses’ profiles and listings with yours.
Our GMB work includes the consistency and content steps above. If you are in a big city, see for example GMB Expert in Mumbai or GMB Expert in Hyderabad.
More and more, especially younger and urban customers, and Google shows AI Overviews on many searches. It is still smaller than Maps, so Maps comes first.
The ones that are well known and well structured, such as Justdial, Sulekha, IndiaMART, Practo for doctors and Zomato or Swiggy for restaurants, depending on your field.
English pages are usually read most widely by AI tools, but adding the Hindi or regional terms your customers use can help both people and search.
No. It builds on it. A strong Google Business Profile is still the base for local visibility.
